what is reiki?
A Gentle Guide to Energy Healing
Reiki is like a massage for the nervous system—gentle yet powerful, helping to clear out the stress and energy we unknowingly carry. ✨ It’s a practice that reminds us that healing isn’t always about doing more, but about allowing, softening, and receiving.
Over the next six weeks, I’ll be sharing more about Reiki—what it is, how it works, and why so many people are drawn to its transformative effects. But first, let’s start with the basics.
What is Reiki?
At its core, Reiki is energy. ⚡ It’s the life force that flows through all living things, sometimes called "universal energy" or "chi." When this energy moves freely, we feel balanced, clear, and well. But when it’s blocked—whether by stress, emotional wounds, or daily life—we can feel stuck, exhausted, or out of alignment. Reiki helps restore that flow, creating space for natural healing on a physical, emotional, and energetic level.
What Happens in a Reiki Session?
A Reiki session is like stepping into a cocoon of calm. 🦋 You’ll lie down, fully clothed, in a peaceful setting while the practitioner places their hands lightly on or above different areas of your body. Some people feel warmth, tingling, or waves of relaxation. Others just feel deeply at ease. There’s no right or wrong experience—Reiki meets you exactly where you are.
The practitioner doesn’t “give” you energy or take anything away. Instead, they act as a conduit, guiding this universal energy where it’s needed most. ✨ Reiki is often associated with the body’s energy centers (chakras), working to clear stagnation and restore balance in ways that can be felt physically, emotionally, and energetically.
Why Do People Try Reiki?
People come to Reiki for so many reasons. Some are looking for stress relief, emotional support, or clarity during times of transition. 🌿 Others find Reiki helps with sleep, nervous system regulation, or even physical discomfort, as it supports the body's natural healing process.
But more than anything, Reiki creates space. Space to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with yourself beneath all the noise.
If you've been curious about Reiki, stay tuned. Over the next six weeks, I’ll be diving deeper into different aspects of this beautiful practice. And if you’ve ever experienced Reiki before, I’d love to hear—what was it like for you? ✨
